Let's learn together.
My name is Jenny Adye, and my pronouns are she/her.
I am an uninvited settler living, studying, and working on the unceded territories of the Lekwungen, Esquimalt, Songhees, and W̱SÁNEĆ nations and peoples, whose ancestral relationship with the land continues to this day. I am an older student, currently finishing up a Bachelors degree in Social Work. Before I was a student, I worked with children for 18 years as a care provider. However, my lifelong passion for advocacy has influenced me to now support individuals in a new way. I believe that my experience working with children and families equipped me with many skills that will transfer into my work as a counsellor.
As a settler, I acknowledge my responsibility to participate in the creation of a collaborative, decolonized social service field that respects the dignity of each person it works with. Within this, I will support you through a counselling approach that is tailored to your individual needs as we learn together. I don't go into this presuming I know what's best for you. I see my position as one of facilitating your own wisdom, for you know yourself better than anyone.
When I’m not studying or working, you can find me near the ocean, soaking up the beauty of this island we call home.
I look forward to finding the path to your healing and growth, together.
