Come as you are—this is a space where all parts of you are welcome.
My name is Kaito and my pronouns are he/him.
I am an uninvited settler living and working on the unceded and traditional lands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations. I am in the final chapter of completing my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and am currently an intern at Burn Bright Counselling!
As an Asian, queer, trans man, my lived experience continues to shape both who I am and how I show up in this work. I know how meaningful it can be to find a space where you don’t have to explain or justify who you are. I aim to offer a space where you can come as you are, where all parts of you are welcome.
Currently, I work as a registered massage therapist and freelance musician. Both of these roles have allowed me to connect with people from different walks of life. Music, in particular, is a meaningful way I connect with others and with community. Through this work, I’ve come to value representation, presence, and cultivating spaces where people feel safe enough to explore their authentic self.
As someone who grew up in a religious family, I understand some of the complexities that can come with being “different” in spaces that are not always affirming. My family raised me with collectivist values while I navigated a more individualistic world outside of it, shaping how I balance community and autonomy. In addition, navigating the healthcare system has given me insight into how chronic pain and challenging medical experiences can affect a person’s relationship with their body and mind. These experiences can sometimes feel invalidating or overwhelming which has deepened my ability to hold care for the layered and sometimes conflicting ways we move through the world. I strive to create space for that complexity in our work together.
Outside of my careers, you can find me connecting with my friends and family at a local coffee shop or restaurant, by the ocean (more often than not, in the ocean), or doing something that flexes my creativity brain, like linocut art or writing music!
I am currently accepting new clients.
I work with individual clients 12+.
I offer virtual and in person sessions in Victoria, BC.
My session fee is $40-$60 sliding scale.
